I recently read the following blog on "Mashable: The Social Media Guide".
The onset of social media and Web 2.0 has dramatically changed how we use the internet.
The information provided in the Top 10 list are things any company should seriously consider utilizing in their daily business activities. Whether large or small, the zero or low cost solutions suggested in the Top 10 list can greatly alter how a company markets itself and handles its daily operations.
Social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter are not just for connecting with friends, playing games and watching silly videos. If harnessed correctly they can be powerful marketing tools that can spread the word to the masses about happenings at your company, new products, services, events, etc. A well established LinkedIn network can offer you connections in your specific industry beyond your wildest dreams. It is up to you how you work the network and utilize the information LinkedIn provides. Searching YouTube can yield extremely valuable results that written words cannot. Try and search on a topic specific to your industry and take a look at the YouTube search results. You more than likely will find presentations, training info and other valuable industry specific information. Tweaking your search terms may bring entirely different results. Don't be afraid to get creative.
I have only mentioned a few of the social media tools mentioned in the blog. The others can provide you with excellent results if utilized properly.
Many people know of these tools but think "That's great, but I don't have the time for those types of things." I would challenge that rationale with "You don't have time not
to utilize these tools." They are extremely powerful and tremendous time/cost savers compared to many traditional work methods.
