One of the key components of a social network is the member’s profile page. Your profile photo and its associated page is what represents you in your interactions on My Cstore World. Anytime you make a post to the site such as a discussion, blog, video, etc., your name and profile photo will be displayed with a link back to the profile page. The profile page is customizable as intended to be a reflection of you.
Consider your profile page as your office or business card on the site. You have the ability to alter your page in many ways to make it unique in both appearance and function. For specifics on how to change the look of your profile page check out How to Customize Your Profile Page
and also a short Video Help – How to Add an Application to Your Profile Page
Customizing the applications on your profile page is a great way to add function to your page and make it your own. When you go to the App Directory
page you will see many applications from which to choose. Applications range from collaboration, photos, communication, fun and games, news, media, events, and many more.
While there are many applications to choose from there are 2 we would like to call your attention to that we find to be especially useful:
- Box.net provides individuals and professionals with simple, powerful tools for communicating and sharing the ideas and content that unite everyone in your network, wherever they are. Posting documents, photos, videos and other media has never been this easy or enjoyable. Box.net gives a voice to all the thoughts and ideas that drive your community's unique mission and identity.
My Twitter Tracker
- Track mentions of your favorite terms across Twitter. Just enter the keywords you want to hear about and My Twitter Tracker will provide a stream of tweets about this subject matter from all over the twitterverse. For instance, if you want to see what others are tweeting about convenience stores, click Settings and enter the words: c-store cstore ”convenience store”. If tweets are available they will show on your profile page.
Of course, it is easy to experiment with other apps as well. If you see an app that interests you add it. If you find you do not like it you can remove it by clicking My Page
and selecting to remove the specific application.
By customizing the look, feel and applications on your profile page you cannot only create a space that is organized and functional but is also professional representation of you or your company.
Have fun creating your profile page.
